Digi Telecommunications or Digi.Com Berhad (d.b.a.digi; MYX: 6947), is a mobile service provider in Malaysia. Its largest shareholder is TelenorASA of Norway with 49%. On 24 May 1995 Digi became the first telco in Malaysia to launch and operate a fully digital cellular network.

They were also the first to offer GPRS (2.5G) and later EDGE (2.75G) in Malaysia on 14 May 2004. DiGi primarily uses the 1800 MHz band for GSM with the network code of 502-16.

Digi is listed on the Bursa Malaysia under the Infrastructure category act.

Wireless

It uses the native dialling prefix identifier of '010', '011 16000000 through 16499999', '016', '0143', '0146' and '0149', although with the implementation of mobile number portability mandated by the Malaysian government this does not apply to subscribers who switched from their old mobile service provider over to Digi. At the moment, switching to Digi is free.

Driver pack offline 2017. As of December 2017, Digi has 4G LTE coverage of 90% on populated areas,.[2] LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) population coverage was at 70% nationwide, likely measured at the lowest signal quality at -110dBm.[3]

Digi operates 2GGSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3GWCDMA/HSPA+, 4GLTE network. [4]

Digi Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd. provides a variety of mobile communication services. These services include voice under their prepaid plans & postpaid plans, SMS, data plans and services, international roaming, international calling card and WAP services.[citation needed]

Digi is the second operator in Malaysia to launch VoLTE, initially available to iPhones running iOS 10.1 and above.[5]

Launches[edit]

Omni Hotline is a Malaysian virtual office landline solution established in July 2018 by Digi Telecommunications. The solution works like a virtual call center with key features including virtual assistant, call transfer and the ability to have a virtual landline number.[6][7]

iFleet is a Malaysian intelligent fleet management system established in 2017 by Digi Telecommunications. The end-to-end fleet management solution empowers businesses to take control of productivity, efficiency and visibility of their fleet.[8][9][10]

altHR is a Malaysian human resource and human capital software platform established in Shah Alam by Digi Telecommunications. The software is a digital workforce management solution to help Malaysian companies digitalize human resources processes. During its launch in June 2020, Digi Chief Marketing Officer Praveen Rajan said altHR was conceptualised from a need within Digi itself and had been operating in-house for almost three years and after countless iterations and improvements, the software is now available for Malaysian Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).[11][12][13]

Subscribers[edit]

As of second quarter of 2018, Digi had 11.659 million subscribers (9.004 million prepaid, and 2.655 million postpaid customers).[3]

Prepaid ARPU is at RM32 (down from RM34 in 4Q 2017) while postpaid ARPU is at RM76 (down from RM77 in 1Q 2018).

The Telco said that it had 76.1% smartphone penetration. Digi had 8.76 million mobile Internet subscribers (75.1%), in which 7.1 million subscribers are using 4G LTE.[3]

In 2014, Digi was ranked 100th on Forbes World’s Most Innovative Companies 2014.[14] Digi was the only Malaysian company, and the only telecommunications operator from Asia to be on the list.

In 2015, Channel News Asia ranked Digi as one of the top 3 companies in Malaysia[15] and ranked 40 in Asia Top 100 Sustainability Ranking.[16] digi is lauded for its 'preemptive measures to safeguard the privacy of its 11.4 million customers by adopting the ISO 27000 information security management system certification and conducting third party independent assessments to strengthen its privacy systems and processes'.[15]

In the 2018 Thomson Reuters Global Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Index ranking, Digi was ranked 46th and was the only Malaysian company to make the top 50 of the index.[17]
